We run the whole online side of med spas: the website and booking, local search, Google and Meta ads that stay within the rules, email and SMS, review requests, and the online skincare store. We already do it every day for a med spa that's been open since 2009, and we've studied hundreds of others.

What we found
We scanned 749 med spa websites. Most are losing bookings in the same ways.
In 2026 we checked the homepages of 749 med spas across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee, loaded the way a client sees them, on a phone. The same problems kept coming up.
37% are heavy pages
278 homepages weighed over 3 MB, which is slow on a phone with weak signal. Big sliders and autoplay videos were the usual cause.
30% hide or bury the Book button
79 had no visible Book button on the homepage at all, and 144 more put it at least a full screen down, where many visitors never scroll.
23% have no tap-to-call link
171 showed a phone number you couldn't tap to call, on the device where most clients call from.
About 1 in 5 are hard for Google to read
20% had no main heading (H1), 19% had no meta description and 18% had no structured data telling search engines what the business is.
8% look abandoned
60 still showed a copyright year of 2023 or earlier, and 43 had broken images on the homepage.
Some aren't there at all
9 sites were down or showed an expired or unconnected domain, which means every ad, Google Business Profile click and referral led nowhere.

Case study · Elume Medspa
A med spa's entire online presence, run by one team.
Elume Medspa has served Fairfax, Virginia since 2009. We run its website, Shopify skincare store, Etsy shop, email and SMS, ads, search and reporting.
Booking
A booking popup that about 1 in 10 openers complete.
Every "Book" link on the site opens the right Calendly page in a popup, with each step tracked in GA4 (138 opens, 41 time picks, 13 bookings in its first month of measurement) and a dollar value attached to each treatment booking. 12 bookable services run through one flow, and online bookings went from 6 in August to 32 in September 2026.
Ads
$30.41 of Google Ads became a $695 treatment.
Local search campaigns written within Google's healthcare rules, measured by booked treatments rather than clicks.
Email, SMS & reviews
Mailchimp to Klaviyo, plus automatic review requests.
The list and sign-up forms moved to Klaviyo, SMS consent is collected in four places, and every visit is followed by an automated request for a Google review.
Retail & search
A skincare store under the main brand, and city pages.
The Shopify store moved to shop.elumemedspa.com with every old link redirected (243 URLs verified), and the main site gained useful pages for the nearby towns clients come from.

Ads that stay approved
Google and Meta campaigns written for healthcare ad policies, with conversions tracked to booked treatments. Ads, email & SMS.
Reviews on autopilot

Flash days and promotions
Injector days and limited offers that open booking slots, hit email and SMS, and take themselves down when they end.

Sell your retail line online, keep it in sync with Etsy, and give every product a video. Shopify & Etsy.
Compliance, built in
Med spa marketing has rules. We know them.
Aesthetic medicine sits between beauty and healthcare, and the ad platforms treat it that way. Breaking a rule can mean rejected ads, a suspended account, or a claim you can't stand behind. We work within these rules from day one.
This is general guidance, not legal advice. Your state's rules and your medical director have the final say.
No before-and-after photos in Meta ads. Meta doesn't allow them for cosmetic procedures. They're fine on your own website, with consent.
No prescription brand names in Google ad copy. "Botox", "Dysport" and "Juvederm" get ads disapproved. We advertise the treatment, not the trademark.
The right FDA wording. Energy devices are "FDA-cleared"; drugs and some fillers are "FDA-approved". Mixing them up is a common, avoidable error.
Health details stay out of the wrong tools. If your booking or email platform won't sign a HIPAA agreement, it only gets logistics, never medical history.
No fake reviews or borrowed photos. Real clients, real results, and other practices' photos clearly credited or not used.
FAQ
Common questions
What does a med spa marketing agency do?
It brings in new clients and keeps existing ones coming back: a website that books appointments, local SEO and Google Business Profile, paid ads, email and SMS, reviews, and often social content and an online skincare store. We run all of it as one team, so the pieces work together.
Can med spas advertise Botox on Google and Facebook?
With restrictions. Google limits prescription-drug terms, so brand names like Botox, Dysport and Juvederm generally can't appear in ad copy. Meta doesn't allow before-and-after photos in ads for cosmetic procedures. Treatment ads also need careful wording, for example "FDA-cleared" for devices and "FDA-approved" for drugs. We write campaigns to these rules from the start.
How do med spas get more Google reviews?
Ask every client, at the right moment, with one tap. We set up an automated message after each visit that links straight to your Google review form, and we never gate or filter who gets asked. Our guide on getting more Google reviews covers the details.
Is online booking HIPAA-compliant?
It depends on the tool. Some booking platforms will sign a HIPAA business associate agreement and some won't. If yours won't, keep booking questions to logistics (name, contact details, service, time) and collect health information in your patient intake system instead.
Should my med spa sell skincare online?
If you already sell retail in the spa, usually yes: an online store lets clients reorder between visits. We run Elume's skincare store on Shopify and list the same products on Etsy. Be aware that some professional skincare brands restrict where their products can be sold online.
Do you work with med spas outside Virginia?
Yes. We work with med spas across the United States. Everything we do is remote, and most of the work happens in your own accounts.
